Getting Started with Microsoft Skype for Business

Step 1: Installation

Windows

Your Windows computer may already have Lync 2013 installed. If so, you can find it in the Start menu (simply type "lync" to search the Start menu). If it is not, please contact the Shinola/Bedrock Help Desk in order to have Lync installed on your computer. Installation should take only 20-25 minutes.

Macintosh

  1. Click here and download the Lync installer.
  2. Open the DMG file that was downloaded, and run the installer.
  3. Step through the installation program, confirming/allowing as you go along.

iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch)

  1. Open the App Store on your device.
  2. Search for "lync 2013".
  3. Install the application called "Lync 2013 for (iPhone/iPad)", depending on your device. Be sure that the app you're installing shows "Microsoft Corporation" as the publisher.

Android

  1. Open the Play Store on your device.
  2. Search for "lync 2013".
  3. Install the app called "Lync 2013". Be sure that the app you're installing shows "Microsoft Corporation" as the publisher.

Step 2: Setting Up

The setup and configuration of Lync should be very simple: you should only need to supply your Shinola/Bedrock email address and password, which would be the password your Office 365 email account (note: this may differ from your computer/domain password).

If you cannot recall your Office 365 password, you may perform a password reset here, or reach out to helpdesk@shinola.com.

Once you've installed and configured Lync, you can add your colleagues to your contact list and begin chatting right away.

Again, if you require any assistance whatsoever, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at helpdesk@shinola.com.
